Robert Clive: He was the person who was responsible for the establishment of British colonial rule in India, as he defeated the Bengal Nawab ‘’Siraj –Ud-Daula’’ near a place called “Plasy’’ in a battle fought on 26th January 1757, (to some extent by cunning method). He was honored with the title “Baron of Plasy”.
But later on, he faced so many allegations like corruption, etc. including the manner of winning the above battle and was asked explanation in the British Parliament. As he could not in a position to tolerate the stress due to these legal charges and getting bad name, he committed suicide on 22nd November 1774.
The Golden rule is: ‘’to fulfill our aims, our ways and means also must be in right order. Never resort to illegal ways for immediate gains”.
