1. Batting paradise:
In the history of world cricket, for the first time, 8 centuries were made in only one test match, played at Antigua in West Indies. Brian Lara also scored highest test score (400) at this ground.
2. Bombay (Mumbai) Stock Exchange (BSE):

It was established in 1875. BSE is still preferred by foreign investors even though NSE is popular among Indian investors.
3. A mummy, belonging to 3,000 BC was found by the archaeologists in the state of Uttarpradesh, in India.
4. Monks (religious persons) in India were revolted against the Britishers (foreign rulers) in the year 1763 AD. (Even though , the Britishers came to India in 1604 AD, solely on business purpose , but later on they changed their tactics and began to establish their rule in this vast country and their supremacy was confirmed after winning in the Placy war of 1757).
5. Indian freedom fighters:
The famous patriot namely Sardar Bhagat Singh was sentenced to death (at the age of around 23 years), by the colonial rulers, during the freedom struggle in India and was kept in Lahore central jail. Another patriot, by name “Jatin Das”, who was also lodged in the same jail, observed “fasting unto death” (for the release of Bhagat Singh), but his purpose was not fulfilled and he lost his precious life on the 63rd day of fasting (Bhagat Singh was executed later on).
6. A peculiar and horrible tradition:
In many parts of India, there was a horrible tradition called “Sati sahagamanam”, which means, if a person dies, his wife (or wives in the case of kings) was also cremated by keeping her on the funeral fire, along with the dead body of her husband.
Raja Ram Mohan Ray, a noted social reformer, took initiative in this regard and fought sincerely, legally with the fundamentalists and also by undergoing life-threatening troubles to his life from the opponents. Finally he was able to convince the then British rulers with his knowledgeable arguments.
That horrible tradition “Sati” was abolished by the then governor general of India, viz; Lord William Bentinck in the year 1829-30 AD.

8. “Bullet proof jackets”: Are made of-Silicon nitrate and jute fiber.
9. Honesty always pays: “Igor Strain Ski”, the noted Holly wood music director was once requested by a producer of Hollywood to provide music to his movie and the producer offered 4000 dollars. But Strain Ski told the producer that the amount is insufficient to him. The producer replied, saying that he paid the same above amount to his previous music director.
For that Strain Ski answered in this manner. “Your previous music director was more expert in music than me. But, I have to strive more hard to reach his level. Hence, I am demanding you more amount of money for my extra strain of work.”
The producer satisfied and agreed to give the amount as asked by Strain Ski.
