Indian warrior Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar

Maharana Pratap Singh was a Great War hero in the history of India. Till death, he fought against Mughal Empire with his little resources through Guerilla warfare.

Those were the days of 16th century and most part of the India was being ruled by the famous Mughal emperor “Akbar”. Akbar defeated so many kings in the battles and his kingdom spread to faraway away places, thus he ruled such a vast land. Delhi was the capital of his kingdom.

But, there was only one Raj put king, by name “Rana Pratap” ruling independently “Mewar area” in Rajasthan, who was not willing to surrender to the emperor, Akbar. Akbar sent a message to Rana pratap, asking him to accept “Akbar as his emperor” and thereafter Rana could rule his kingdom independently, but Rana refused to surrender and not willing to accept the supremacy of Akbar.

Akbar declared war on Rana and the forces of Rana and Akbar fought at a place called “Haldighat” and the Rana was defeated, but refused to surrender to Akbar and left the palace and went to live in the deep forest area. Akbar tried his level best to make Rana come to his terms, but Rana refused to do so. Akbar went on giving troubles Rana and both were stuck to their guns.

It was reported that, sometimes Rana was unable to find food for some days and at those times he and his followers prepare roties (bread) with grass and ate them to minimize the hunger problem.

The name of his horse was “Chetak” and its name was used by Bajaj Auto company for its scooters.
