July 30: Genera knowledge of the day

 

 

1. Cricket: Don Bradman scored maximum number of double centuries (12) while Sachin Tendulkar scored maximum number of centuries (48).

 

 

2. Cricket: Suresh Raina is the only Indian cricketer to score centuries in 3 formats of cricket – test, one day and T20.

 

 

3. Sports: Saina Nehwal will receive 2010 Rajiv Khel Ratna award. Her coach P. Gopichand was already honoured with the Dronacharya and Rajiv Khel Ratna awards.

 

 

4. National highway update:

 

 

Chennai-Kolkata road: NH5 name will be changed to NH16.

 

 

Pune-Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Machilipatnam: NH9 will be changed to NH65.

 

 

Digamarru-Ongole road: NH 214-A name will be changed to 216.

 

 

5. Elections: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) lost its national party status. To get national party status, a party needs to be recognised as state party in at least 4 states. JD (U) lost state party status in Jharkhand while Samajwadi party lost status in Uttarakhand. MDMK lost state party status in Tamil Nadu.
