  Martyrs'day (January 30) special article.  I visited Mahatma Gandhi's ashram on the occasion of Republic day. Sabarmati Ashram was built in 1917 on the bank of Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad and attracted nation attention in 1930 when Gandhiji started "Dandi march" from Ashram on March 12.   Sabarmati River from Ashram: This river originates near Mount Abu area in Aravali hills (Rajasthan).
