Man Booker Prize for fiction 2009

  The highly prestigious Man Booker Prize for fiction 2009 has been awarded to the British novelist Hilary Mantel for her book “Wolf Hall”.  Mantel received the honour for her much acclaimed novel set in the historical background of 1520s in England during the times of Henry VIII and narrates the rise of Thomas Cromwell as Henry VIII’s successor.  This year’s shortlist for the 50,000 pound prize included the works of AS Byatt, JM Coetzee, Adam Foulds, Simon Mawer and Sarah Waters along with Mantel’s book.
