Ancient India and its great people: India is famous for its rich heritage and culture. India produced so many great personalities in those days in Medicine, Space and Physics. 1. India is the 7th largest country in the world and it is the second in population after China. 2. The Portuguese introduced tobacco in India in the early period of 16th century. 3. Aryabhattu: This famous astronomer discovered in 499 AD about the structure and moving speed, etc. of the earth. But he did not make any propaganda of his discoveries. But the credit had gone to Copernicus, after 1000 years. 4. Takshasila: This is the first university in the world which was established in 700 BC. 60 subjects were studies in those days in that university. 5. Sri Bhaskaracharya: He wrote two books, viz “Siddhantasiromani” and” Bhuvanakosam”, 400 years before Sir Issac Newton proposed gravitation theories. 6. Charaka: The first surgeon of the world who conducted number of operations, including surgeries on the human skull, eyes and also did plastic surgery. 7.
